Sometimes life gives us false hope.
A great example is:
Paul was a derp. For a long time I used to think 'Oh, it's because most of these pictures/gifs/images are from the 1960s. He'll get wiser and older. For some time I actually believed this. That he is now a wise man. But turns out we have been fooled.

We can't pray the derp away.

It turns out that this is simply Paul's laifstail. It's part of who he is.
